Summer floated then fell
a green world begins to turn to bright syrup colors
that sicken and fade
the deckled leaves flake from trees,
autumn’s hemorrhage begun
earth who drains
on cold grey table of sky
how will we carry you?
Autumn winds arrive
and we see each other still,
you and I, alive
