Chill, by Donna Fleischer

Chill

Summer floated then fell

a green world begins to turn to bright syrup colors
that sicken and fade

the deckled leaves flake from trees,
autumn’s hemorrhage begun

earth who drains
on cold grey table of sky
how will we carry you?

Autumn winds arrive, a haiku by Shiki, translation by Jan Walls

Autumn winds arrive
and we see each other still,
you and I, alive

– Shiki (秋風や、生きて相見る 汝と我 aki kaze ya, ikite aimiru nare to ware)
